I have to use Parallels on my Mac so I can use Domino Administrator and Designer and not have to carry around two machines to do it. That’s fine… its not a big pain and its a nice option to have.I’m also using Parallels as a crutch for a handful of apps. I haven’t found a really good HTML/CSS editor for the Mac … so I can always fire up Windows and use FrontPage or TopStyle and quickly get something done.
Another crutch application is SimpleViewer (or in my case, Porta, which makes SimpleViewer albums quickly and easily). I did find a Mac version of this for iPhoto, but its not … “there” yet.
Here’s the problem… when you use Parallels, you can install the toolset that adds file sharing between your MacOSX environment and Windows. But it’s really tempermental… or just plain MENTAL! It often crashes for no reason and I can’t seem to figure out why. — When that happens, its time for a work-around. I found one, so you don’t have to.

A quick tip for all Mac users that I just found. You can put your computer to sleep by:
- Closing the cover, if its a laptop
- Selecitng “sleep” from the sytem menu
- Setting your screen saver / display settings to do it after a period of time
- Pressing the power button, then select “sleep”
- Throwing it out the window (more of a perminate sleep there) …. AND….
- Press Command-Option and the Eject button for about 2 seconds
How handy! When I have kids, I want to get the edition that has those buttons on them as well!

Happy 4th of July!
If you’re like me and pretty much gave up going to see fireworks when your favorite spot stopped doing them (ah… the days of grabbing a Caribou Coffee Mocha and watching fireworks over Lake Minnetonka … those were the days) then I offer you the little item below.
Click anywhere in the sky to launch fireworks above the American Adventure pavilion in Disney’s EPCOT.
Click the title or “more” link to access the fireworks fun. There is audio, so crank it up!

I dugg an article about the Top 10 Most Beautiful Apps for the Mac and ran across one I hadn’t heard of: CoverFlow.
I don’t know that anyone can say they NEED this app, but it is very cool. Especially when you turn on the “Auto Tracking” feature and watch it spin through all of your album art and then display the one for the song that’s playing. Its like a modern day jukebox, but so much better!

… and no, Lotus Notes did not make the list. I can’t say I’m at all surprised, but maybe that’s something they should strive for. I’m sure they can do it, they just opt not to.
(For those of you wondering, the CD shown is this dude I know through a friend who’s got tons of talent. I suggest checking it out.)

The first idea I had for this blog was to make it a sort of “Engadget” or “TUAW” style blog … where I link back to stuff I find interesting in the plethora of Domino blogs out there as a sort of “best of the day” kinda entry. I may still do it at some point.
The problem with the idea is that I tend to get a bit “Talk Soup” with things like that and make fun of things in a not-too-offensive way. Lots of people take that wrong and get offended if they read into it wrong on the the cold, heartless text of a web page. Since its a small, yet vocal community, I didn’t want to tick anyone off.
Anyway… looks like someone else finally took the first domain name I looked at for the idea and is making a sort of yellow pages (dual meaning there – the book and the color of Domino) of DominoBlogs.
Your’s truly is listed:

That’s DominoBlogs.com which lists DominoKeys.com not to mention the forthcoming DotMonkees.com which sounds the same but isn’t.
