Kevin,

Excellent post. Really well thought out

Even yesterday, chatting to someone over Sunday lunch, they said "oh, what sort of IT do you do?". I replied "Notes development". They paused...."Hmmm...we use Notes for our email too - why is it so cr@p? It's nowhere near as good as Outlook"

After 10 minutes, I gave up as I could see in their eyes that the standard "Notes is cr@p" and "I use Outlook at home so I prefer it" was not going to leave their brain based on anything I said and it was getting embarassing turning the conversation into a sales pitch!. The surprised looks to the things I reeled off when they asked "so it does more than email?" were priceless. I got the distinct impression that a lot of the apps in this person's company (a large insurer based in Scotland) are more than likely built in Notes and seamlessly integrate with the email. Maybe this seamlessness leads to people just thinking Notes = email?
