Glad you like the PoT's. My team and I are responsible for putting those together and I'm glad to get some positive reviews!

In terms of Activities and Quickr.. did they also mention the new push-button integration capabilities from in Lotus Connections Activities. Here's another use case (one that I go through a lot) that may help you visualize how Connections and Quickr work together:

1. I run the Lotus Social Software community within IBM and we use Quickr as our intellectual capital repository.

2. Most files in Quickr are tagged in Dogear (for easier search, especially since Dogear is integrated to our enterprise search engine!)

3. Sometimes a sub-set of the community meets to work on some new collateral... This work is done and tracked in Activities. The document goes through its revisions in Activities. Once it's done, it gets published to the Quickr Library for our community.

4. Other times, someone blogs about an idea and again a sub-set of the community forms a team and collaborate in Activities before publishing the final version to Quickr.

5. The membership list between our Quickr site and our Community (will be) synchronized (once Quickr 8.1.1 ships in a couple of weeks).

6. The person card (with the embedded ST Presence Awareness) has been added to Quickr to bring up Profiles information in Quickr.

Hope this helps!

Good point! We have - we've learned (over time) that the center of our projects is really the sharing of documents through our process and that tools like gantt charts are nice, but have far less value. We've tried things like MS Project but quickly found that they are only a very small slice of how we need to manage projects.

In addition, I probably under-described the impact of the CAD files. Not only do we often have multiple iterations of those, but also a number of simulations associated with them. Its entirely possible to have several GBs worth of files for one project. Now, not all of those would be put into Quickr, but their locations would certainly referenced in Quickr and the "release version" would probably be attached.

Just out of curiousity - you say your requirements is for better project management. Have you looked at tools that specifically serve that need? Project4Domino springs to mind, but I'm fairly sure there are others.
